I had my thyroid removed and now thyroid medication and have never heard of. I see several doctors, so I'm surprised that if there is a major concern that no one talked to me.

However, I found an article online that provide useful information (link below) can provide. I would also ask your pharmacist. They generally have a better education about drugs, even better than doctors in many cases.

Good for a cold:
Mullein tea, steep 5-8 minutes, a hot drink with honey. Mullein grows wild in many parts of North America and is used for centuries for respiratory diseases.
Honey, a great all natural healing. For more information on honey, look at Patrick Quillin. It was a great book called "honey, vinegar and garlic"
Vinegar, 1 teaspoon of what we do in a glass of apple juice at the beginning of a disease called again very good. My daughter loves to drink.
Garlic - the end of the magic trio. We do it in a garlic butter, then spread on toasted bread (no toast, could refer to) you can use a little oil, about their fresh vegetables, noodles, or throw it into release. Garlic is very good for colds.
Extract of grapefruit seed, gargle with 10 drops in 6 ounces of water one and swallow. Ideal for sore throats, infections, and yeast.
Avoid refined sugar. You are immunosuppressive and cons of their attempts to improve, too.
Saline Nasal Spray - 1 / 4 c. Tea salt, 1 / 4 c. Tea baking powder 6 ounces hot water. Mix well, then as drops or sprays.

My mother had the same operation as you, with the same diagnosis. All drugs reduced by going to a chiropractor who had his thyrolate to do (I do not know if it discouraged the correct spelling - doctors, since they do not know enough about her, but she swears by it). She was able to take it, not for life. However, if the increase in thyroid problems, is resolved back to a maintenance dose. They also avoid all products of the anti-bacterial cleaning, please do so.

Consider consulting a healer or a chiropractor, who is also in natural medicine. You may be surprised that his prognosis is not so weak, and even if he has the surgery, you can improve your chances. My mother, now 68, had surgery when she died 30 years ago needs, medical care in almost 40 years, and now looking for a chiropractor without a prescription or nonprescription, and cleans houses to support herself, living alone, active and committed.
